Strangely enough, many people with low self esteem feel that they do indeed possess confidence and similarly many people with low self confidence feel that they do not have a problem with low self esteem.
But there is a link between self esteem and confidence, and more often than not the two go hand in hand.
A person with low self esteem may say…..I do have confidence……and if I had higher self esteem I would be able to use that confidence. And one with low confidence might not see it as a problem of self esteem.
But we find that if we increase either confidence or self esteem then both grow in equal proportion, so there is a link.
It can be the confusion between what self esteem and confidence actually are which prevents any improvement in either, the line can easily blur between self esteem ad confidence.
But at the end of the day, what we call a problem or how we label it is irrelevant. That there is a problem is the point, and if that problem is allowed to persist the roots of it will only become more and more entrenched, distant and thus hidden.
As soon as a problem with self esteem, confidence, shyness, or whatever you want to call it, is noticed….that is the time to act.
